30 Creative Resumes That Will Help You Build Yours

Sometimes chosing a resume over another is a matter of comparison, however, there is a lot of information that gets filtered by only a glimpse. A resume, like a business card or a website, resembles not only your personality but  also evidences your creativity. The layout expresses priorities while color reveals personality. How we select and organize the content is also a key part of building a good resume.

Here you have some slightly different resume designs. These aren’t the best, or the coolest, but they will help you learn how you want yours to be. Ask yourself, why did I like this one? To what part did I look first? Is the color combination right? Would I hire this person?

Building a creative yet informative resume is a good way to clearly present you personality and skills, as it is usually the first thing any employer sees before flipping through your entire portfolio.

  2. Virginia – this is an excellent post – creative, dramatic, informative. I notice that there are many on-line resumes like Vizify. How are HR people responding to resumes that are remarkable?

  3. Wonderful post and examples! Just wondering if you’ve tried using this type of resume (and what the results were)? Thanks for any info.

  4. Maybe I’m stuck living in a different era, maybe it’s just that I’m from the midwest, but don’t these seem risky? And maybe a little too much? Dunno though, I think they would at least catch my eye; I would want to meet the person; and I probably would have some negative notions going into the meeting. Just sayin’.

    • I’m guessing not for all industries, and not for all jobs.

Certainly not for many corporate mentalities, or for office work, etc.

Basically, most companies frown on individuality, “being different”, and people running them are not looking for “something different”, but rather something familiar and predictable.

Then again, if this works, you have found a place that might be truly enjoyable to work at.

    • Dan, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. I didn’t quite like those resumé templates and I really hope no one “uses” them. If I am hiring somebody who claims to be creative and find out that his/her resumé was taken from a template resumé I would never hire this person. What do you think?

  5. I wish I could let loose the creativity to create a resume like these! And that I could find a job that would choose me for it! Sadly I currently work at one of those boring office jobs as a desk jockey, where originality is peered at like some bizarre new species with some deadly disease…. Great blog! Thanks for sharing🙂
